About Us
Platform for Labour Action (PLA) promotes and protects the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers in Uganda.
Platform for Labour Action (PLA) is a Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization established in 2000 to promote and protect the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers. For over two decades, PLA has been at the forefront of the fight against child labour, unsafe migration, and workplace exploitation in Uganda.
PLA works across 9 districts in Uganda, reaching thousands of vulnerable workers including children in labour, migrant workers, and informal sector workers. Through a combination of direct legal assistance, policy advocacy, community mobilization, and research, PLA has impacted the lives of over 21,000 people.

What We Do
Our comprehensive approach to protecting the rights and dignity of vulnerable workers
Child Labour and Social Protection
Since inception in 2000, PLA has been at the forefront of eliminating child exploitation in Uganda — from domestic servitude and commercial agriculture to trafficking and children affected by conflict.
Learn MoreChange Maker, Advocacy and Social Justice
PLA nurtures communities where agents of change naturally emerge, supporting 30+ community-based organisations to defend labour rights and champion social justice.
Learn MoreLegal Aid
PLA provides free comprehensive legal aid to vulnerable and marginalised workers who cannot afford legal representation — across 16 districts with physical clinics in Kampala, Iganga, and Lira.
Learn MoreSafe Labour Migration
Every year, thousands of Ugandans migrate in search of work, many facing exploitation and trafficking. PLA ensures migration becomes a pathway to opportunity — not vulnerability.
Learn MoreSkilling and Vocational Training
Our Skilling and Vocational Training program equips children, adolescents, and young adults with marketable skills while ensuring their protection from exploitation, including child labour.
Learn MoreResearch, Knowledge Management and Learning
Since inception, PLA's work has been grounded in rigorous research, knowledge management, and continuous learning — generating evidence-based insights that inform advocacy and programme design.
Learn MorePLA International
PLA International extends our mission beyond Uganda, working across borders to protect workers' rights and combat exploitation. Through international partnerships and advocacy, we contribute to global efforts for decent work and social justice.
